Review: Russell Dickerson disappoints on new studio album ‘Yours’ (Includes first-hand account)

While his Yours EP was indeed promising, the actual full-length studio effort isn’t. It does include the same five songs from the EP, however, the vast majority of Dickerson’s new tracks appear to be filler bro-country tunes that are lackluster and forgettable. That holds true for the following songs: “twentysomething,” “You Look Like A Love Song,” “Would You Love Me,” and the obnoxious “Billions,” among others.

The only true standout songs on this album are the two versions of his radio single “Yours,” which include the charming acoustic wedding edition.

The Verdict

Overall, Russell Dickerson has a lot of potential, but this new album does not show his true capabilities. This journalist’s recommendation would be to download his breakthrough single “Yours” on iTunes or Amazon, and for the listeners and fans to pick and choose which of the other remaining songs (if any) suit their musical tastes, since this album is packed with many duds. Russell Dickerson’s Yours album garners 1.5 out of 5 stars.
