His goal is to tear apart the dance floor with his new anthem on sexual liberation entitled “Boys and Sometimes Girls.” The tune has garnered comparisons as the male compliment of Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl.” The track is about the androgynous artist’s interest in both sexes, and he gives an allusion to sex as a performance. His latest single has a strong message to it, which is quite personal. He is not afraid to showcase his brevity and vulnerability as an artist.
Rebel’s “Boys and Sometimes Girls” is available on iTunes now.
He was the former lead singer in the 90’s boy band No Authority that was discovered by Michael Jackson and subsequently signed to Madonna’s label Maverick. His musical influences range from the late “King of Pop” Michael Jackson, to Elvis to Prince. He is an artist that doesn’t follow trends and dresses the way he wants.
Throughout his career, he toured with such musical acts as 98 Degrees, Destiny’s Child, Aaron Carter as well as Ashlee Simpson and Jessica Simpson.
The Verdict
Overall, the new Ricky Rebel music video garners three out of five stars. It is a neat and theatrical music video, where Rebel proves that his choreography is spot on, but his listeners deserve to hear more vocal range from him minus the glam.
