article imageReview: R5 delivers on new EP 'New Addictions' Special

By Markos Papadatos     May 13, 2017 in Music
Pop-rock rock R5 is back with their brand new EP "New Addictions," which was released on May 12 on the record label Hollywood Records.
The EP opens with the up-tempo tune "If," which has a neat groove to it and a dance-pop vibe. It is followed by the smooth and sultry "Red Velvet," which is a collaboration with New Beat Fund. Front-man Ross Lynch nails the lead vocals.
"Lay Your Head Down" is a crisp and mellow ballad, while "Trading Time" is infectious and fun, which would make a solid choice for a future radio single. "Need You Tonight" is beautiful with a haunting feel to it.
Aside from Ross Lynch on lead vocals and rhythm guitar, R5 is made up of Lynch's siblings Riker (bass/vocals), Rocky (lead guitar/vocals) and Rydel (keyboard/vocals) and childhood friend Ellington "Ratliff" (drums/vocals).
New Addictions is available on iTunes.
The Verdict
Overall, this new EP by R5 garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. To quote its title, the new music on this collection is definitely "addicting." Well done R5.
