Wantagh - Rock band Plunge put on a high-energy show at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall on Long Island on January 13, as part of 90's Night.
Front-man Matt Wahl rocked on lead vocals, and his energy level was infectious. He delivered on such Blink-182 hits as "What's My Age Again?" and a medley of "Adam's Song" and "All The Small Things," the latter of which they incorporated as a crowd sing-along. Their music was a blend of pop, rock, punk, adult contemporary and alternative.
Wahl tipped his hat to the Goo Goo Dolls with "Slide" and equally noteworthy was their version of Third Eye Blind's "Semi-Charmed Life." They picked up the pace with Gin Blossoms' upbeat "Hey Jealousy." They also covered Lit's "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Santeria" by Sublime, among other memorable hits from the 90's. The fan favorite song of the night was their rendition of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
Their show was followed by a performance from boy band cover group Larger Than Life, which featured Edvin, Toly, Chris, Devin and Price singing and dancing to all the boy band classics.
The Verdict
Overall, it was a great deal of fun to see Plunge play at Mulcahy's as part of the second 90's night of the year. DJ Mike Savage did an awesome job spinning records in between sets, and Savage was able to get the fans excited for all the performers.
