Review: Pink irresistible on new radio single ‘What About Us’ (Includes first-hand account)

“What About Us” is a track on her forthcoming seventh studio album, Beautiful Trauma, which will be released on October 13, via her record label, RCA Records. She co-wrote the track with producer Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid.

It starts off as a raw power-ballad and it builds us into an infectious electro-pop anthem about empowerment. It has political connotations to it about a divided America.

“We are searchlights, we can see in the dark, we are rockets, pointed up at the stars, we are billions of beautiful hearts, and you sold us down the river too far,” Pink sings, melancholically.

“What About Us” is available on Spotify and on iTunes.

The Verdict

Overall, Pink is superb on her new stirring single “What About Us.” It really tugs at the heartstrings, and many listeners can relate to its political yet relevant lyrics. This tender song deserves to be a big contender at next year’s Grammy awards. It is Pink at her musical best. “What About Us” garners five out of five stars.
