While Pentatonix is clearly able to sing (and they have three Grammy awards on their mantel to prove that), their version of the Elvis Presley classic just doesn’t quite cut it.
Their rendition is way too slow, monotone and it sounds extremely boring. It is difficult to sustain the listener’s attention for the entire of three minutes and 20 seconds duration. At this point the group needs to step up their game and push the envelope since all of their music videos are sounding the same, and they are quite forgettable. Also, they need to start releasing music that is more relatable to their younger fans and audiences (such as their earlier medleys and hits), as opposed to adult contemporary songs or oldies classics.
“Can’t Help Falling in Love” is available on iTunes.
The Verdict
Overall, the new Pentatonix music video for “Can’t Help Falling in Love” garners 2.5 out of 5 stars. They have a great deal of potential, it’s just that this music video was too plain and it went nowhere. Plus, based on the music videos that they have been putting out lately, Pentatonix is starting to sound repetitive.
