Review: Oliver Heldens incredible at ‘Electric Zoo: The 6th Boro’ (Includes first-hand account)

Heldens ranked No. 8 in the coveted DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll in 2016, and he is only 22 years old.

His live performance in New York’s Electric Zoo was superlative. He headlined the Riverside stage, where despite the chilly weather and heavy rainfall, he was able to deliver for a loyal audience. Heldens commanded the stage well, and he was able to sustain the crowd’s attention for the entire 75-minute duration of his house set. The tracks he played were remarkable, diverse and refreshing. It allowed the listener to kick back and relax, as he immersed them in his upbeat set. Their melodies were strong and infectious.

Most recently, as Digital Journal reported, Heldens announced his new track “Underwater Melon,” where he is giving his fans the distinct opportunity to collaborate with him on the track, in the capacity of songwriters, vocalists and graphic designers.

The Verdict

Overall, Oliver Heldens was able to put on a high-octane performance at Electric Zoo’s Riverside stage. He exhibited a great deal of talent, and he had the Randall Island’s crowd with him every step of the way. Heldens certainly deserves a spot in the Top 5 this year, in the DJ Magazine Top 100 DJs poll, if not higher. For anybody who has any second thoughts, all they need to see is a highlight reel of his Electric Zoo set, which he nailed, despite the pouring rain. Heldens’ show garnered an A rating.
