Review: O.A.R. superb at headlining show at The Paramount in New York (Includes first-hand account)

This marked their first of two nights at this Long Island venue. Singer-songwriter Taylor Carson was able to warm up the stage for them as their opening act.

O.A.R.’s set was highly eclectic and it included all of their hits, many noteworthy album cuts, as well as neat covers such as “Pawn Shop” by Sublime. Some of the tunes that stood out included the infectious “Hey Girl,” “This Town” and “Peace.”

The highlight vocal of their set was their live rendition of “Shattered (Turn the Car Around),” where blue and green lights dimmed from the stage. Everybody in the audience was reciting the lyrics to the chorus verbatim.

The Verdict

Overall, O.A.R. was able to delight on their first of two nights performing at The Paramount. Front-man Marc Roberge nailed the lead vocals, and the entire band soared as a whole. They played for well over two hours, and they deserve a round of applause for their incredible energy level. O.A.R. is worth seeing live whenever they are in the area, and they know how to jam. Their live show garnered an A rating.
