Review: Nonpoint rocks Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall in New York (Includes first-hand account)

Nonpoint played for an intimate group of rock and metal fans that gathered this evening in Wantagh. The band is made up of Elias Soriano on lead vocals, Robb Rivera on drums, Rasheed Thomas on rhythm guitar and background vocals, Adam Woloszyn on bass and B.C. Kochmit on lead guitar and backing vocals.

They kicked off their set with “Pins and Needles,” and it was followed by “Victim” and “What a Day.” Nonpoint immediately broke into “Hands Off,” prior to singing “Generation Idiot,” which was a track from their latest studio effort The Poison Red. It was followed by such album cuts as “El Diablo” and the spitfire “Divided… Conquer Them.” “Let me hear you fucking sing,” Elias Soriano told his fans.

After “Breaking Skin,” they delivered a killer rendition of Phil Collins’ “In The Air Tonight,” where they totally made this song their own. “Thank you, Long Island,” they said, following the warm reception of this performance.

“My Last Dying Breath” had strong melodies and electrifying guitar riffs. “Get your fucking guns in the air,” Soriano said, and they closed on an aggressive note with the up-tempo “Bullet with a Name.”

The Verdict

Overall, Nonpoint’s one-hour set at Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall was upbeat and fun. They had the crowd with them every step of the way, and they are worth seeing live next time they are in the area.
