Review: Nathan Sykes delights at Radio City Music Hall in New York City (Includes first-hand account)

Sykes shared the stage with songstress Ruth B, and he was able to put on a very impressive opening set, where he showcased his tremendous pipes.

“How ya’ll doing today?” Sykes asked, prior to noting that is a dream for him to perform at an iconic venue such as Radio City Music Hall. He began with his breakthrough single “Kiss Me Quick,” displaying his ability to nail the high notes, where the stage was graced in blue lights. Sykes was backed solely by acoustic guitar.

“It is such an honor to be on this tour,” he said, graciously. “You guys are in for the most amazing show tonight.” It was followed by a solo rendition of “Famous,” where he accompanied himself on piano, and sang with minimal melisma.

“Oh my God. I’m having the best night,” he exclaimed, and he immediately broke into his latest single “Give It Up,” which is a collaboration with rapper G-Eazy. Sykes was accompanied on acoustic guitar by his guitar player, and it was a mellow performance, featuring his sultry yet powerhouse voice.

Sykes closed his four-song set with a piano-driven version of “Over and Over Again,” where he left his fans yearning for more. “I hope you enjoy tonight,” he told his New York fans, prior to wishing them all “a good night.”
