Review: Mario Frangoulis stunning on ‘Beautiful Things’ album (Includes first-hand account)

The CD opens with the gorgeous title track, the calming ballad “Beautiful Things,” and it is followed by the optimistic and empowering “I Believe in You,” as well as “Because We Believe,” which has a neat orchestral arrangement to it.

“A Hero Is Inside” is an impressive collaboration with Vanessa Williams. “Un Passo Verso Te” is another polished, piano-driven ballad. Greek songstress Alkistis Protopsalti joins him on the aggressive “Rojo Violento.”

Equally hypnotic and poetic is “Time for Me,” where his vocals are slightly reminiscent of Josh Groban, which should be taken as a compliment. In “Strong,” he showcases his powerful storytelling ability, thus proving that he is a song stylist.

Frangoulis’ album closes with a controlled version of “Maria” and the French tune, “Un Jour, Un Enfant,” which he sings flawlessly.

Most recently, on November 6, Frangoulis performed for Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City.

The Verdict

Overall, Mario Frangoulis has done an exceptional job on his 14-track album, Beautiful Things.Simply put, it is indeed “beautiful.” It garners an A rating, and it is recommended for all fans of classical music and Mario Frangoulis.

Beautiful Things is available on iTunes.
