Review: Leon Bridges displays heart and soul on R&B album ‘Good Thing’ (Includes first-hand account)

Bridges’ new album opens with on a melancholic note with “Bet Ain’t Worth the Hand,” and it is followed by the mid-tempo “Bad Bad News,” which features strong harmonies, and the soothing yet sultry “Shy.” The R&B singer-songwriter co-penned all 10 tracks on the CD.

“Beyond” is more mellow yet sung with maximum heart. He picks up the pace with the infectious “Forgive You,” and it immediately breaks into “Lions,” where his voice is crisp and haunting.

“If It Feels Good (Then It Must Be)” is another refreshing track, with catchy backing vocals. After the funky and upbeat “You Don’t Know,” Leon Bridges’ new CD closes with the ballad “Mrs.” and “Georgia to Texas,” where he leaves his fans and listeners yearning for more.

Good Thing by Leon Bridges is available on iTunes.
