New Zealand songstress Kimbra has released an emotional new remix video for "Everybody Knows." Digital Journal has the scoop.
This video was in partnership with Safe Horizon, which is the largest non-profit victim services agency in America. The video was inspired by Kimbra's open letter to Harvey Weinstein.
Although the music video may be slightly disturbing, due to its serious subject matter (domestic violence), it is very powerful and inspirational. The Apothek Rework video for "Everybody Knows" is haunting and stirring. Kimbra's voice is the perfect soundtrack for this moving tune. She is not afraid to showcase her vulnerability as a recording artist on this tune, and Kimbra's vocals are crisp and sultry.
At the end of the video, it closes with a statement that domestic violence can happen to anyone at any time, and it offers a phone number and the official Safe Horizon website for additional assistance.
Speaking of Safe Horizon, it provides assistance and support from experts for people and victims who have experienced any of the following: domestic violence, child abuse (physical and sexual), rape, human trafficking, stalking, sexual assault, homelessness (especially of youth), as well as violent crimes.
The Verdict
Overall, with this new music video for "Everybody Knows," Kimbra is able to form a strong, emotional connection with her music listeners and viewers. It is a great ode against oppression, and it will resonate well with her audience, especially anybody who has been a victim of domestic violence or physical abuse. "Everybody Knows" garners an A rating, and Kimbra ought to be commended for raising awareness on this sensitive matter.
