New York - On January 10, Kimberly Davis, the lead singer of the band Chic, performed the national anthem at Madison Square Garden, along with Nile Rodgers.
Davis performed "The Star-Spangled Banner" for the New York Knicks vs. Chicago Bulls basketball game, which took place at the "World's Most Famous Arena." She was joined with Rodgers, hit songwriter, producer and multi-Grammy winner, who accompanied her on electric guitar. Rodgers is also an inductee of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Their rendition was captivating, showcasing Davis' rich, sultry vocals. With Rodgers on guitar, he helped elevate the national anthem to a higher level, and what was great about it is that it was not overdone. Davis showcased her impressive high notes towards the end, and their performance was well-received by all. This marvelous version of "The Star-Spangled Banner" garnered an A rating.
