article imageReview: Joon Moon delivers on new 'Tiger' EP Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 27, 2017 in Music
The group Joon Moon has released their new three-track EP "Tiger" on Kwaidan Records, which has a neo-soul and retro vibe to it.
Joon Moon is the Franco-American outfit of house producer and Nouvelle Vague collaborator Julien Decoret, Raphael Chassin on drums, and American expat and singer Krystle Warren.
The Tiger EP is the follow-up to their two previous extended plays Chess and Call Me, and it is an introduction of what fans and listeners can expect on their forthcoming full-length studio album, Moonshine Corner, which will be released on September 23.
This project was recorded in their custom-designed Studio 237 in Paris, France. Most impressive about the EP's production is that it is comprised of vintage instruments such as the Radio King, a 40's battery that has become a sought after collecting piece, or the Hofner 1968 bass that Paul McCartney (from The Beatles) made popular.
It opens with the album version of "Tiger," and it is followed by a crisp and haunting live rendition of the ballad "Call Me." The EP closes with the radio edit version of "Tiger." It is definitely recommended for fans of such noteworthy musicians as Amy Winehouse, Sam Smith, Bill Withers and Erykah Badu, among others. One will not be disappointed with this new release.
