Review: Jesse Rice back with refreshing ‘The Pirate Sessions III’ album (Includes first-hand account)

It opens on a fun note with the “Tank Tops & Flip Flops,” and it is followed by the laid-back and mellow “Get Your Island On,” and the equally infectious “Hangout With a Hangover.” Rice shows us his soft side on the acoustic ballad “Buffett and the Beach,” before he picks up the pace with the mid-tempo “Hope Town.”

“Rainin in Key West” is yet another well-crafted ballad by Rice, while “Island Eyes” is reminiscent of a quintessential Jason Aldean tune. The CD closes with the witty “Too Drunk to Meet Jimmy Buffett” and the nonchalant “Castaways.”

The Verdict

Overall, Jesse Rice’s new album The Pirate Sessions III is a very uplifting and liberating collection. He shows his listening audience how to have a good time with upbeat and fun tracks. This CD is recommended for country fans that enjoy the music of such artists as Kenny Chesney, Uncle Kracker and Jake Owen. It garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.

The Pirate Sessions III is available on iTunes.
