It opens with the witty “Fifty Shades” and it is followed by “Real People, Not Actors” and “Good On the Bad Side of Town,” where he honors the memory of his late father.
Jeff Daniels proves that his storytelling is like no other on this musical effort. His son’s band, the Ben Daniels Band, is comprised of gifted musicians. “When My Fingers Find Your Strings” was quite a harmony masterclass, and they take us on a journey to the “Last Train to Clarksville,” The fiddle-driven “Hard to Hear the Angels Sing” has a stirring vibe to it. Equally compelling are “Back When You Were into Me” and “Roadsigns.”
After the fun and bubbly “Keep It Right Here,” Daniels slows down the tempo on “Rollin’ & Tumblin’,” and it concludes on a fitting note with “Matter of Timing,” featuring their breathy harmonies.
The majority of the songs on this record were performed live at City Winery in New York City, and Jeff Daniels and the Ben Daniels Band did them justice.
Their Acoustic Sittin’ Tour 2018 album is available on iTunes. It is highly recommended for anybody who is a fan of Jeff Daniels and the Ben Daniels Band. It is haunting, acoustic music at its finest, and it garners 4.5 out of 5 stars.
