article imageReview: James Arthur brings ethereal voice to Jones Beach Theater Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 30, 2017 in Music
Wantagh - On July 29, British pop sensation James Arthur performed at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island, where he opened for Fitz and The Tantrums and One Republic.
A British singer-songwriter, Arthur opened his acoustic set with "I Am," which is a track off his sophomore studio album, Back from the Edge, that was released on Columbia Records. He was instantly able to lure his listeners and fans in his show. Other noteworthy tunes included a cover of "Into You" and "Impossible," which featured his soaring vocals.
The highlights of his set were his latest radio single "Can I Be Him," as well as his global smash hit "Say You Won't Let Go," where the crowd went nuts. His rendition of "Say You Won't Let Go" was haunting, crisp and simply divine. It is safe to say that Arthur is the male musical equivalent of Adele. That song deserves to be nominated for a Grammy award for "Best Pop Solo Performance" at next year's awards, at the very least, and Arthur should be in the running for "Best New Artist."
The Verdict
Overall, James Arthur was able to warm up the stage for such musical acts as Fitz and The Tantrums and headliners One Republic. His future in the music industry is very promising, and it is only a matter of time before Arthur will be headlining the Jones Beach Theater in his own right. He commands the stage well, and he is a gifted singer-songwriter . Arthur's opening set garnered an A rating.
