Ann and Nancy Wilson from the acclaimed rock group Heart have released their new DVD "Alive in Seattle" on June 30, via Eagle Rock Entertainment.
This concert was filmed in 2002 during their homecoming concert in Seattle. It opens with "Crazy On You," where Nancy does an exceptional beginning guitar solo, and Ann kills the lead vocals. It is followed by "Sister Wild Rose" and "The Witch."
Aside from the Wilson sisters, the Heart line-up for this show was comprised of Benjamin Smith on drums, Mike Inez on bass, Scott Olson on guitar, as well as Tom Kellock on keyboards.
"These Dreams" is one of the highlight vocals of the collection, where Nancy nails the lead vocals, in a mellifluous performance, while Ann compliments her on harmonies and shakers.
"Alone" was the powerhouse performance in their set, featuring Ann's impressive pipes, while the acoustic "Dog and Butterfly" was more mellow and delicate, and it ought to be enjoyed for its beauty and simplicity.
Equally distinct were such songs as "Magic Man," "Battle of Evermore" and "Barracuda." The DVD closes with "Black Dog" and "Dreamboat Annie," where they leave their fans wanting to hear more.
The Verdict
This Alive in Seattle DVD is proof that Ann and Nancy Wilson from Heart can do no wrong; moreover, it allows the rock goddesses to shine as songwriters (since they wrote the majority of these classic rock hits). Eagle Rock Entertainment never disappoints with the music it puts out. This collection garners an A rating.
