Review: Grabbitz delivers on music video for ‘Play this Game’ single (Includes first-hand account)

His music video for “Play This Game” is dark, edgy, intense and seductive, all at the same time. Grabbitz’s vocals are haunting and crisp. The song is a track from his forthcoming debut studio album, Things Change, which will be released on May 19 via West Blood Records.

A Los Angeles/Buffalo-based artist, Grabbitz noted that the track “Play This Game” is about the industry, as well as about taking risks. “Everybody’s out here for themselves, they don’t give a damn ’bout no one else, people only want you for your name, still I choose to play this game,” Grabbitz sings.

He collaborated on this video with visual artist Nikko Lamere, who has worked with such artists as Khelani, Noah Cyrus and Sky Ferreira. In his compelling video, it captures Grabbitz literally bearing his skin and soul for the industry. This song encompasses elements of pop, hip hop, alternative, soul and electronic music.

The Verdict

Overall, Grabbitz delivers on his new music video for his single “Play This Game.” He is not afraid to showcase his vulnerability as a recording artist, nor is he afraid to push the envelope. It is very distinct and refreshing. “Play This Game” garners an A- rating.

“Play This Game” is available on iTunes and on Spotify.
