“Firestarter” was released on the major dance label Armada Music. The track’s music video will resonate well with fans of comic books, which was directed and storyboarded by Dutch videographer Eauxby.
In this video clip, Captain Darklight (portrayed by Fedde le Grand) uses his powers to stop Mother Nature (Ida Corr) from destroying Earth. A “Breaking News” message in the video states: “More Pollution Than Ever.” This was caused by humans ruining the planet with pollution, but Mother Nature is able to defeat Darklight with her strength; moreover, “Diligitis,” the God Of Love (voiced by reggae sensation Shaggy), is there to save the day with his seductive ways. Shaggy is one true scene-stealer. “I know just what your body need, so girl just let me proceed,” Shaggy sings.
This track is a reunion for Fedde le Grand and Ida Corr (10 years after their smash hit “Let Me Think About It”), as well as Corr and Shaggy (“Under the Sun” from 2009). It is a fusion of electronic music, reggae, pop-rock and adult contemporary.
Fedde le Grand has been busy headlining Tomorrowland and Ultra Europe. In addition, he just released a designer sneaker in collaboration with Nubikk, and he did a DJ Magazine live session, which has gone viral. Fedde le Grand’s music is available on iTunes.
The Verdict
Overall, Fedde le Grand’s music video for “Firestarter” is one neat animated adventure. It compliments the infectious track quite well, and they both garner an A rating.
