Review: Easton Corbin fantastic at Stage 17 for NASH FM 94.7 (Includes first-hand account)

This event was sponsored by Shiner Beer, and Corbin shared the stage with fellow country sensation Canaan Smith. Corbin was backed by a talented band (that was comprised of acoustic guitars, drums and violin).

Corbin opened his set with the upbeat “Lovin’ You Is Fun,” and it was followed by a soulful performance of “Clockwork.” He took his fans on a trip down memory lane to his first chart-topping single “A Little More Country Than That,” which earned a major response from the fans. “Last time we were here was with Carrie Underwood at Madison Square Garden,” he recalled.

He continued with “Are You with Me,” and he shared the story behind the song, how one of his friends first heard it on an EDM (electronic dance music) radio station, and how it became a big hit overseas in the dance charts. “This song is a testament that good music transcends genres,” he said, and rightfully so. He went on to deliver his own refreshing country version of the song, though he admitted that his “dance moves aren’t that good.”

Equally fun was the mid-tempo chart-topper “Roll with It” and he premiered his latest radio single, the infectious “A Girl Like You,” which he dedicated to the “New York girls” in the audience. “There are a lot of beautiful New York ladies out there,” he said. Corbin shared that he is a “lover of traditional country music,” and it is evident that his new single suits him just fine. “Thank you NASH FM for having me,” he said, expressing his gratitude to the hit country radio station.

He closed with “Baby Be My Love Song” and “All Over the Road,” the latter of which he incorporated as a sing-along with the audience. “Sounding good out there,” he said, complimenting his fans. “Thank you so much for coming out with us.”

The Verdict

Overall, Easton Corbin epitomizes what country music is all about: real songs, real stories, real people, all sung and performed by a genuine singer-songwriter. Corbin’s rich, baritone vocals resonated well with the Stage 17 audience. His performance garnered five out of five stars.
