article imageReview: deadmau5 back with fabulous new album 'W:/2016ALBUM/' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Dec 6, 2016 in Music
Electronic music superstar deadmau5 is back with his new studio album, "W:/2016ALBUM/," where he proves to be as strong as ever.
It was released on his own record label, mau5trap. The collection opens with the infectious "4ware," which instantly lures the listener into this new electronic musical effort. It immediately breaks into "2448," which is pure ear candy. "Cat Thruster" has a more nonchalant and laid-back vibe to it, while "Deus Ex Machina" is more upbeat and progressive. "Glish" is more psychedelic, and after "Imaginary Friends," we are introduced to the crisp vocals of Grabbitz on "Let Go."
"No Problem" is more subtle and ambient, which would be the quintessential track for deadmau5 to open his live shows with. It continues with "Snowcone," prior to breaking into the stomping beats of "Three Pound Chicken Wing." The album closes with "Whelk Then" and a refreshing extended edit of "Let Go."
The Verdict
Overall, deadmau5 delivers on his latest studio album. There is something in it for everybody, and deadmau5 is a master of his craft. He deserves to be commended since this musical effort is powerful yet not overdone, and he allows his high-quality music to speak for itself. It garners an A rating.
His new album is available on iTunes.
