Review: David Cook amazing on new single ‘Gimme Heartbreak’ (Includes first-hand account)

Cook premiered the single exclusively on Yahoo! Music, and it deserves to be a major hit on the radio airwaves. This song shows him going in a new musical direction, where he has a clear vision. Cook is a singer-songwriter that is not afraid to take risks. His vocals on “Gimme Heartbreak” are crisp, sultry and bluesy.

On July 10, Cook will be performing live at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn, New York, so his dedicated fans and listeners should expect to hear this refreshing new single at that venue.

The Verdict

Overall, “Gimme Heartbreak” has been a long time coming, yet it was worth the wait. It is evident that the former American Idol winner only gets better with age and experience. It is one of those songs that can send shivers down a listener’s spine, especially since there is a sense of honesty and authenticity to his lyrics; moreover, vocally, Cook is in a class of his own. “Gimme Heartbreak” garners an A+ rating. Bravo David Cook.
