The proceeds benefited the Middle Tennessee State University’s Charlie and Hazel Daniels Veterans and Military Family Center, which is also known as the Daniels Center. This year’s event went on to exceed all expectations, and it generated a grand total of $171,000.
Charlie Daniels noted that it was very gratifying to see that level of the public support for veterans. He added that there was a feeling of “unabashed patriotism,” which came together for a “worthy cause.” They announced that the date for next year’s “Veteran Impact Celebration” will take place on Thursday, June 27, 2019.
A Grand Ole Opry star, Daniels made welcoming remarks later in the night, and he played two of his patriotic songs, “In America” and “My Beautiful America.” He subsequently presented a check for $100,000, with his manager David Corlew and Major General Terry “Max” Haston, to the Daniels Center at Middle Tennessee State University.
The Journey Home Project is a nonprofit organization that helps other charities in earning funds for causes that help veterans of the United States Armed Forces. It was founded in 2014 by Country Music Hall of Famer Charlie Daniels and his manager, David Corlew.
On Friday, July 6, 2018, Daniels will be performing at the Tilles Center for the Performing Arts in Brookville, New York, along with The Marshall Tucker Band, as part of “Southern Rock Revival.”
