article imageReview: Calvin Simon back with new Christian album 'It's Not Too Late' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jun 11, 2017 in Music
Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Calvin Simon released his new Christian studio album "It's Not Too Late," which was released on Simon Sayz Recording.
It opens with the Christian tune "Needing Someone (It's Not Too Late)," and he picks up the pace with "The Holy One (Jesus)," while
"Jesus Is a Friend of Mine" has a funky and sultry vibe to it.
The album immediately breaks into the mid-tempo "Sorrow Street" and the poignant, piano-driven ballad "A Soldier's Story," which is a neat story song. "Power of Love" is an upbeat inspirational tune, and it closes with "In My Fathers House," and on a fitting note with the patriotic yet faithful "I Am a Soldier."
It is evident that this album hits close to home with Simon, since he was raised in a Christian home, and he rededicated his life to Christianity after being baptized a second time in 2002.
Simon is one of the original founding members of the funk and soul group Parliament Funkadelic. In 1997, they were inducted into the coveted Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
The Verdict
Overall, Calvin Simon delights on his new spiritual album It's Not Too Late. The material on this studio effort feels like a homecoming for Simon, and his vocals are crisp and bluesy. It's Not Too Late garners an A rating.
His album is available on Amazon.
