Review: Calvin Harris remarkable at the Billboard Hot 100 Music Festival (Includes first-hand account)

Ariana Grande headlined on the first night of the music festival, August 20, and her performance was well-received, where she shared the stage with rapper Fetty Wap, Martin Garrix and pop singer-songwriter Rachel Platten.

Calvin Harris rounded out this year’s Billboard Hot 100 festival on its second day, and it featured some of his greatest dance hits, which have propelled him into a mega-star. His performance was high-energy and it included his latest smash single, “This is What You Came For,” a collaboration with Rihanna, which sits at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 charts.

He also played a remix of “All the Way Up.” Equally impressive was “How Deep is Your Love,” as well as his dance anthem “We Found Love,” yet again a duet with Rihanna, and “Feel So Close,” the latter of which was electrifying.

The Verdict

Overall, Calvin Harris knows how to work a crowd, especially at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater. Despite the pouring rain, he was able to make the night very memorable for his fans. His live set garnered four out of five stars.
