article imageReview: Brantley Gilbert incredible on new album 'The Devil Don't Sleep' Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jan 29, 2017 in Music
Country singer Brantley Gilbert is back with his new studio album "The Devil Don't Sleep," and it is an awesome collection.
A Georgia native, Gilbert either penned or co-penned all of the tracks on the CD. It opens on an infectious note with "Rockin' Chairs," and it is followed by the upbeat and sassy "The Ones That Like Me," and his latest radio single "The Weekend," which is a Top 20 hit, and climbing. "You Could Be That Girl" has a country-rock edge to it, while "Smokin' Gun" is a heart-warming ballad. It immediately breaks into "Bro Code" and the nostalgic "It's About To Get Dirty."
After the spitfire "Tried To Tell Ya," Gilbert shows his soft side on the gorgeous ballad "In My Head." Equally melodically-charming are the ballads "Way Back" and "Baby Be Crazy."
"Outlaw In Me" is an acoustic masterpiece, while "Bullet In A Bonfire" is a powerhouse tune. The title track "The Devil Don't Sleep" would make a solid choice for a future radio single. It closes with the bittersweet ballad "We're Gonna Ride Again" and with the piano-driven "Three Feet Of Water."
The Verdict
Overall, Brantley Gilbert rocks on his latest country album The Devil Don't Sleep. There is a lot of variety on this project, and he nails all the ballads. This well-crafted CD garners an A rating.
