This studio effort was produced by Ben Isaacs of The Isaacs. It opens with a subtle version of “Amazing Grace,” without being overdone, and it works well. It is followed by “Family Bible,” where he is joined with Country Music Hall of Famers The Oak Ridge Boys, as well as “Angel Band,” featuring the soothing harmonies of Alison Krauss.
The Isaacs compliment Walker on “I Will Someday,” and Vince Gill lends his velvet voice on “Drifting Too Far From The Shore.” He also covers the traditional gospel classic “I’ll Fly Away.” Jimmy Fortune is delightful with Walker on “The Old Rugged Cross,” and producer Ben [Isaacs] joins him on “Because He Lives.”
After “Victory in Jesus,” the album closes with the slow-moving yet powerful ballad, “One Day at a Time,” with harmony vocals from Rhonda Vincent, and the mid-tempo “Who Will Sing for Me,” where he collaborates with multi-Grammy winner and multi-instrumentalist Ricky Skaggs.
The Verdict
