Country duo Maddie and Tae and Tyler Farr served as his opening acts. Farr failed to impress, especially with his lackluster vocals and horrid version of the 80’s hit “I Don’t Wanna Lose Your Love.”
Fortunately, Paisley on the other hand was great, and the performer that everybody wanted to see. He opened his set with the upbeat “Crushin’ It” and continued with the tender love song “The World,” as well as “Water.”
Paisley showed his fans that he was much cooler “Online,” and changed the pace with the stirring ballad “Perfect Storm.”
With the help of modern technology, he sang his latest single, the duet “Without A Fight” with Demi Lovato, who appeared on the giant televised screen. It was followed by the rocking “Country Nation” and “This is Country Music.” “All right. What will turn you on… with Red Sox and Dodgers, with Mets or Yankees?” he asked, and it was met with a raucous response.
Speaking of the song “This is Country Music,” one of the most poignant moments of the evening was when Paisley gave away his guitar to a boy that was holding up a sign saying “This is Country Music.”
Opener Tyler Farr returned on stage to sing “I’m Still a Guy” with Paisley. He continued with “She’s Everything” and the football anthem “American Saturday Night.”
The South Park caricatures that displayed on the background screen during “Celebrity” were an added treat.
Equally fun was “Beat This Summer” and “I’m Gonna Miss Her,” and he took his fans on a trip to the “River Bank.”
Paisley closed his memorable set with “Southern Comfort Zone” and his signature tune, “Mud on the Tires.” For his encore, he returned with the playful “Ticks” and ended on a fun note with “Alcohol,” which was a crowd sing-along.
The Verdict
Overall, Brad Paisley was able to deliver at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Long Island. It was a great deal of fun, and he still knows how to rock in the best country way possible. His live show earned four out of five stars.
