Veteran singer-songwriter Billy Ray Cyrus released the stirring "The Goddess of Democracy," just in time for the 4th of July holiday.
Cyrus co-wrote his new song "The Goddess of Democracy" with Don Von Tress and John Brannen. His vocals are rich and raspy, and it has a haunting effect on the listener. The harmonica instrumentation on there is an added bonus, which compliments Cyrus' rousing songwriting abilities. Listeners will be drenched in a wide spectrum of raw emotions.
"The paranoia of prophecies, require we sedate, so I hid my dreams and my memories, before it got too late," Cyrus sings. "I won't deny, I liked to cried, I guess it was her fate," he continued.
Cyrus premiered the song exclusively in Parade Magazine, where it will be featured for 24 hours only, so he encouraged everybody to spread it around. "On this 4th of July I wanted to share this thought from my new band," Cyrus posted on social media. "It's a sneak peek only up for 24 hours. Hope this brings some perspective and stimulates patriotism and loyalty to our beloved America."
The Verdict
Overall, Billy Ray Cyrus has outdone himself with the anthemic "The Goddess of Democracy." There is a rawness and authentic to the lyrics that will resonated well with his fans. The listener can recall a country-rock version of Bruce Springsteen meets John Mellencamp, and that ought to be taken as a compliment. "The Goddess of Democracy" by Billy Ray Cyrus garners an A rating.
