Review: Billy Dean performs at Congressional Club’s First Lady’s Luncheon (Includes first-hand account)

On Monday night in his hotel room, the country singer wrote “Be Best,” a tune that was inspired by First Lady Melania Trump. Dean went on to perform the new song “Be Best” on the following morning at the annual event, which was held at the Washington Hilton Hotel.

In his set, Dean also performed his smash country singles “You Don’t Count The Cost,” “Only Here For A Little While” and the moving ballad ” “Let Them Be Little.”

Most impressive about this event was that Dean was able to bring his wife, Stephanie, and his own mother, Odene Reilly, as his special guests. While they were in Washington D.C., the country star gave his mom an early birthday gift in the form of a private tour of the White House. This moment was quite remarkable for both Dean and his mother, who just celebrated her 89th birthday, since they were able to celebrate two special occasions at our nation’s capital: a belated Mother’s Day and her birthday.

“The Congressional Club was created in May of 1908, where it gave women a voice even before they had the right to vote,” Billy Dean said.

First Lady Melania Trump was unable to attend since she was recently hospitalized for kidney surgery, but many other noteworthy women went on her behalf, including Second Lady Karen Pence (the wife of Vice President Mike Pence). America’s Patriot, country star Lee Greenwood was there to perform his signature song “God Bless the USA.”
