article imageReview: Big Shot performs at Mulcahy's, venue hosts annual Big Shot Luau Special

Wantagh - On August 5, Mike DelGuidice and Big Shot performed at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall in Wantagh, where they celebrated their annual luau at their outside Tiki Bar.
The luau at Mulcahy's included a free pig roast, drink specials, a neat selection of fruits, and Transmission Party served as their opening act.
Big Shot (consisting of front-man Mike DelGuidice and lead guitar player Tommy Byrnes) performed all the major Billy Joel hits including "Piano Man," "New York State of Mind," "You May Be Right," as well as "We Didn't Start the Fire," where DelGuidice accompanied himself on piano. "Scenes From An Italian Restaurant" was exquisite from start to finish. Saxophone player John Scarpulla was back in the band, after touring with Diana Ross.
One of the greatest treats in their set was their cover songs, especially the inclusion of Elton John's "Tiny Dancer," as well as "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me," both of which were sheer perfection.
Digital Journal sat down and chatted with Mike DelGuidice prior to his concert.
The Verdict
Overall, it is great to see Big Shot back at Mulcahy's performing on the famous "Mike DelGuidice Stage." They were able to make their fans feel Hawaiian, and they helped capture the tropical mood, with their nostalgic vocals. They always manage to make Billy Joel proud with their moving renditions. They garnered an A rating.
