Review: ayokay soars on new single ‘The Shine,’ featuring Chelsea Cutler (Includes first-hand account)

His brand new track “The Shine” is refreshing and it deserves to be the song of the summer. A native of Detroit, ayokay knows how to deliver. The song is upbeat, melodic and vibrant coupled with catchy hooks and an orchestrated drop.

Aside from Chelsea Cutler’s breathy vocals, the lyrics about the excitement of a relationship fading are relatable to his fans and listeners.

His breakout single “Kings Of Summer” featured lead vocals from his childhood friend and frequent collaborator Quinn XCII, which went on to be a viral success. The song hit No. 1 on Spotify’s Global Viral charts, as well as No. 1 on Hype Machine and it amassed over 50 million streams on Spotify.

ayokay is in the studio working on his own new material and he is producing for other artists. “The Shine” is the first of a series of new singles that will be released in the next few months.

The Verdict

Overall, “The Shine” garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. It is pure ear candy, and the quintessential song of the summer that listeners can enjoy while rolling their windows down.

“The Shine” is available for purchase on Spotify and on iTunes.
