Review: American Idol’s Phillip Phillips charms on new single ‘Magnetic’ (Includes first-hand account)

It is the follow-up to his single “Miles.” “Magnetic” has a haunting and retro vibe to it, coupled with elements of blues, rock, traditional pop, soul and adult contemporary music. The song was co-penned by Phillips and produced by Nathan Chapman. It is a track on his forthcoming studio album Collateral, which will be released on January 19 via Interscope Records. Phillips’ smooth, baritone vocals are reminiscent of John Mayer meets Dave Matthews.

“Magnetic” resonated well when he performed it live at the Jones Beach Theater on Long Island this past August.

On December 20, Phillips will be performing at The Paramount in Huntington on Long Island, as Digital Journal reported.

The Verdict

Overall, Phillip Phillips rocks on his latest single “Magnetic.” He is able to send chills down the veins of his listeners thanks to his sultry voice, and leaves his fans yearning for more. The song garners 4.5 out of 5 stars. Well done.

“Magnetic” is available on iTunes and on Spotify.
