Review: Alok superb on new music video for ‘Never Let Me Go’ (Includes first-hand account)

The track, produced by Los Pibes, was released on May 5 via Spinnin’ Records, and it has gone viral. The song is the No. 1 most Shazamed tune in Brazil, and it is bound to be the dance anthem of the summer.

From start to finish, the track is polished and exquisite. It is comprised of mellow guitar riffs, a drop, infectious flute and neat whistling beats; moreover, Zeeba’s rumbling vocals help elevate it to a higher level.

The song’s music video has a futuristic vibe to it, which begins with an alien and UFO landing on earth. The creature is trying to understand life on earth, in an effort to get acclimated to the human culture. The alien, however, is able to with blend in with club-goers, where he seems to be having a great time. The ending is quite sweet, since although he is visited by fellow aliens, he decides to stay with his new friends on earth. What makes this video more compelling is that it is rich in symbolism, which underscores the theme of acceptance and anti-bullying. While coming from a different culture might lead to culture shock initially, one is able to define themselves truly by the friends, family and acquaintances around them. That way, they have a new, welcoming home.

The Verdict

Overall, Alok shines on his new single “Never Let Me Go.” It is a strong collaboration with Bruno Martini and Zeeba, that is destined to put a smiles on the faces of their listeners. Alok’s future in the electronic music scene should be bright and promising. The uplifting “Never Let Me Go” garners an A rating.
