article imageReview: Alien Ant Farm pays homage to Chester Bennington at The Paramount Special

By Markos Papadatos     Jul 31, 2017 in Music
Huntington - On July 30, rock group Alien Ant Farm performed at The Paramount in Huntington, as part of the "Fun in the Summer Sun" Tour.
Alien Ant Farm shared the stage with such musical acts as Marcy Playground, Dishwalla and Fuel.
They kicked off their set with "Courage" and it was followed by "Forgive & Forget" and their infectious hit "Movies," which had a retro vibe to it, as it took their fans on a trip down memory lane to early 2001. The band thanked the Long Island audience for seeing them on a Sunday night.
They continued with "Wish," as well as "What I Feel Is Mine," where everybody was singing along with them on the chorus, as blue lights dimmed from the stage.
The highlight moment in Alien Ant Farm's set was when lead singer, Dryden Mitchell, dedicated "Attitude" to his mom, as well as to the late Chester Bennington. Mitchell shared that this was his mother's personal favorite song of theirs, and he wasn't saying that solely because he was related to her; moreover, he noted that he had the good fortune of singing the tune with Chester, and praised the late Linkin Park front-man for sounding great on "Attitude." Towards the song's finale, they closed with a haunting version of the opening instrumentation of Linkin Park's "In The End," which resonated well with The Paramount audience.
After the spitfire "Sticks and Stones," Alien Ant Farm saved their signature tune for last, "Smooth Criminal," which was the song that everybody was waiting for. Towards the end, they even incorporated a verse of dance artist CeCe Peniston's "Finally," as an added bonus (where they twisted it and gave it an Alien Ant Farm touch). They reiterated their gratitude to everybody for coming out on a Sunday night and seeing them perform.
The Verdict
Alien Ant Farm's show at The Paramount in Huntington was nostalgic and rocking. For more information on the iconic rock group Alien Ant Farm and their tour dates, check out their official Facebook page.
