article imageReview: Afrojack inspires fans to 'Press Play' on new electronic EP Special

By Markos Papadatos     Sep 6, 2018 in Music
On August 31, world renowned Dutch DJ and producer Afrojack released his new "Push Play" EP, which was released on Armada Music and Wall Recordings.
Press Play opens with the mid-tempo, spitfire tune "Bringin It Back" and it is followed by "Let It Rip," which has a strong drop to it, and the synth-driven "Step Back."
"Own Game" is made to be a club banger anthem, and just like the title hints "Another Level" is quite superb. Nicky Romero has done a brilliant job on the remix for "One More Day," which is worthy of the repeat button. The track "Time" is a neat, catchy segue for the second half of the musical effort.
"2012" is a tune that can get any dance party started, and it is followed by "Bassride" and the unapologetic and bold "My City." "Flawless Victory" is sassy and edgy, and it closes with "Pop That."
Afrojack's Press Play EP is available on Spotify and on iTunes.
The Verdict
Overall, the new Afrojack Press Play collection is quite eclectic and well-crafted. There are upbeat and progressive tunes that are made for nightclubs and large festivals, as well as more melodic compositions, the latter of which are sheer bliss. In this EP, it is extremely hard for one to pick a favorite track since they are all distinct and impressive.
Afrojack epitomizes the best that contemporary house music has to offer, and the attention that he puts to the simplest musical details is quite remarkable, as he makes everything work well. This EP is recommended for all fans of house and electronic music. It garners an A rating.
