Pentatonix’s Avi Kaplan talks ‘Sage and Stone’ EP, future plans (Includes interview)

“I really wanted the video to capture the fun and the love and the quirkiness of the track. I wanted to have a western view to it. Those are the mountains I grew up going to,” Kaplan said about the video for “Sweet Adeline.”

On the song selection process for the new EP, he said, “I’ve written a lot of songs in my life, and went through all of those songs, and I tried to find songs that represent my full talent as eclectically as possible. I wanted to give people a taste of everything that I do.”

Each day, he is motivated by his love for music. “My dreams motivate me to be able to make music that helps people and has an effect on them through the hard times. My family and friends motivate me as well,” he said.

Throughout his career in the music industry, Kaplan won three Grammy awards for his work with the a cappella group Pentatonix. “It is still surreal to say that I’ve won three Grammys. It is unbelievable, and I still pinch myself thinking about it,” he said.

Regarding his future plans, Kaplan said, “I plan to write and record more songs, to tour more, make more videos, and really delve into this new music and give all that I have in it.”

Kaplan’s dream would be to someday collaborate with Simon & Garfunkel. “I would love to sing harmonies with them,” he said.

“I love the fans more than I can ever possibly explain. I couldn’t be more thankful for everything they’ve done for me in the past, and everything in the present. I always want to make them proud and lift them up,” he concluded.
