For the first half of 2017, the best concert by a female solo artist goes to disco music sensation France Joli, who performed at Mulcahy's in Wantagh.
This concert took place on February 19, as part of her birthday bash. DJ Johnny Iovino had provided the music entertainment for the night.
She is known for such smash disco hits as "Gonna Get Over You," "Heart to Break the Heart," as well as her signature tune "Come to Me," which reached No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs charts, and stayed there for three weeks back in 1979.
The turnout at Joli's birthday bash concert at Mulcahy's Pub and Concert Hall (on a Sunday) is a substantial indication that 70's disco music is as relevant and significant as ever. Whether she is performing solo, or with the disco tribute group Disco Unlimited, their shows always manage to draw large crowds, as the audience reminisces about their early days. France Joli's concerts are always worth checking out, especially since she sounds amazing live, thanks to her incredible three octave range.
