George Michael passed away on December 25, 2016, and here are five celebrities that paid the best tributes to the Wham! front-man and British singer.
Adam Lambert: Lambert dedicated his song "Faith" to the memory of George Michael. He performed it this past summer on the ABC television show "Greatest Hits." "Dedicated to one of my first pop idols. You will be missed sir," Lambert tweeted, about his musical influence.
Andrew Ridgeley: George Michael's band-mate from Wham! Andrew Ridgeley noted that he was devastated over the loss of Michael on his social media page. "Had a voice that would transport u," Ridgeley tweeted, prior to praising him as the "finest" singer-songwriter of his generation, and he "has left the best of himself for us."
Elton John: In his moving tribute, Elton John noted that he is in deep shock about the loss of George Michael. "I have lost a beloved friend," he added. "The kindest, most generous soul and a brilliant artist."
John collaborated with Michael on their chart-topping duet "Don't Let the Sun Go Down on Me."
Madonna: The Material Girl posted a YouTube clip from the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs), where she presented George Michael with the "Video Vanguard Award." "Farewell My Friend," Madonna posted on her Instagram page. "Another Great Artist leaves us," she added.
Paul McCartney: Paul McCartney eloquently stated that Michael's "sweet soul music will live on," even after his tragic death.
