Mike DelGuidice talks Joan Jett, Chris Cornell and Pink Tie event (Includes interview)

DelGuidice is also a part of Billy Joel’s live touring band, and on April 5, at Joel’s inaugural concert at the newly-renovated Nassau Coliseum, they shared the stage with Rock and Roll Hall of Famer Joan Jett, where they sang two of her hits including “I Hate Myself for Loving You” and “I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll.” “I love Joan Jett,” DelGuidice exclaimed. “She is an icon, and I was playing her music when I was a kid. We used to sing all of her songs ‘I Love Rock ‘n’ Roll,’ ‘Crimson & Clover’ and ‘I Hate Myself for Loving You’ in a band when I was a kid. I love her.”

The Big Shot front-man had nothing but the greatest words about the late Chris Cornell of Soundgarden and Audioslave. “It was a horrible loss of one of the best voices,” he said.

Speaking of Cornell, DelGuidice’s two favorite songs of his were “Black Hole Sun” and “Spoonman,” both of which were Grammy-winning tunes. “There was something about his voice in ‘Black Hole Sun’,” he said, and ironically enough, Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” is a song about death.

Finally, DelGuidice spoke highly about the fifth annual Pink Tie event, which will take place on May 22 at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, New York. This year’s event will feature Scott Stapp from the rock band Creed as its special musical guest. “We had the good fortune to play last year. It’s an amazing event, where so many people come together. It is one big Long Island hospitality party. It is going to be a lot of fun,” DelGuidice said.
