On March 4, Mulcahy’s Pub and Concert Hall celebrated the birthday of Mike DelGuidice, the front-man of Big Shot, and Scarpulla couldn’t have been happier. “I drove an hour and a half to make sure I got here on time since I didn’t want to miss it,” he said. “Tonight, Mike added a horn section, which he normally does for special occasions, and being that it’s his birthday, I guess that would qualify as a special occasion.”
Scarpulla continued, “I moved to Connecticut a year ago, so this gig used to be a local gig. I used to drive only 20 minutes, but now I drive an hour and 30 minutes. I’m always happy to come to Mulcahy’s. They always treat us right here, from the extra musicians to the sound to the lights.”
Aside from Big Shot, Scarpulla plays saxophone for Ms. Diana Ross.
On March 31, 2017, Big Shot will be performing at The Paramount in Huntington. “I lived in Huntington most of my life, and my house was two minutes from The Paramount. My mom and my family all live in Huntington, so for me, The Paramount is like coming home,” he said. “I am very excited for their success at The Paramount, for their local and national acts. It is such a successful club, and a beautiful room to play in. We get treated like royalty there, as they do for all of their artists. The backstage area is beautiful and the sound is fantastic. I’m really proud to play there with this band in particular.”
