Lynn Anderson’s ‘Rose Garden’ album tops charts 46 years ago

On March 18, 1971, the album reached No. 1 on the Billboard Top Country Albums charts, and it stayed there for 14 weeks. Her Rose Garden album subsequently held the record for the longest run at No. 1 by a female solo country artist for 24 years, up until Shania Twain broke the record with her album, The Woman in Me in 1995. It won Anderson the Grammy for “Best Country Vocal Performance, Female” in 1971.

The late country songstress is still remembered today by such country stars as Justin Moore, Easton Corbin and Martina McBride consistently sings “Rose Garden” in her live concerts. Trisha Yearwood also sang her hit song at the 2016 CMA awards.
