LL Cool J garners 2018 nomination for Rock and Roll Hall of Fame

LL Cool J (Ladies Love Cool James) has been eligible for induction since 2009. This marks his fourth career nomination for the prestigious Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. He was previously nominated in the years 2010, 2011 and 2014.

The acclaimed hip hop artist expressed his gratitude on his Facebook page. “I’m truly grateful for this nomination,” he said, effusively. “God is great. I remember being 16 years old doing hand stands in the subway on my way to the studio to work with Rick and Russell.”

He shared that he “honestly never knew” that he would get here. He thanked his dedicated fans for helping his career grow and blossom. “I refuse to forget how it all started. I remember where I came from,” he admitted. “Your vote matters. This matters. Once again its up to you guys. My fans. I wouldn’t be in this position if it wasn’t for you. And I’ll get in because of you.”

Ever since his debut in the music scene, with his smash single “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” in 1985, LL Cool J has been unstoppable. His debut studio album, Radio, was subsequently certified platinum a year later. He has served as a pioneer in the pop, rap and hip hop music industry. His mantel holds two Grammy awards for “Best Rap Solo Performance” for his signature tunes “Mama Said Knock You Out” and “Hey Lover.”

In addition, LL Cool J is an inductee of the Long Island Music Hall of Fame, in its inaugural class of 2007.

Aside from his musical endeavors, he is an actor with film and television roles and hosting gigs to his credit, as well as a published author.
