Liam Grae talks new single ‘Uniform,’ technology and Dua Lipa (Includes interview)

“It has been a long time coming,” Grae said, about his new single. “I moved out to Los Angeles about a year ago. I met this songwriter named Dale Anthoni, who is one of my favorite people to write with, and we got in a room together. I told him my vision as an artist as Liam Grae, and we wrote this song. It’s the perfect blend of old-school soul and songwriting with new pop production. That’s what I am all about. Making traditional the new modern.”

Grae continued, “This song encompasses my music in general. It is taking an old-school flavor on a new pop production. It touches on growing up in a very modern world. It talks about dating in a modern world, and it’s a cheeky play on relationships in a modern world.”

His plans for the future are to release at least two or three more singles in the next six months. “2019 is going to be a big year for me and my team,” he hinted. “We are going to make 2019 the year of Liam Grae. We want to make this music hit.”

Grae listed Zara Larsson and Dua Lipa as his dream female collaboration choices in the music industry. “I love their voices and the textures of their voices. It would be so much fun to collaborate with them,” Grae admitted.

Digital transformation of the music business

On the impact of technology on the music business, Grae said, “Technology is good and bad. It’s a double-edged sword. It has helped artists that are new and independent. It has given them a voice and a chance to connect directly to fans. Overall, technology has been a huge breakthrough especially for independent artists like myself.”

Regarding his use of technology in his daily routine as a musician, Grae said, “Technology allows me to connect with my fans much quicker. I am able to get feedback quicker, which allows me to make music that is more applicable to what my fans are looking for.”
