Leo Howard talks Ask Jonesy and Company, ‘Burning Fire’ single (Includes interview)

“In Ask Jonesy, I am the lead guitarist,” he said. “Guitar has been something I’ve always loved and practiced. As well as writing music. Now I’m able to put it all to use in Ask Jonesy.”

“Burning Fire” is their debut single. “It was a song that our singer Troy Romzek had in the can from years prior. And we took the idea from that demo and redid the whole thing. It’s a completely different song now. Very high energy exciting song,” he said.

“‘Stings’ was the very first song we wrote together. I came in with the Riff and structure and Troy and Ricky developed the rest of the song around it. It’s the polar opposite of burning Fire which is a nice touch. Kind of a yin and a yang. Much more genuine and emotional than ‘Burning Fire’,” he said.

On his future plans, he said, “Acting is still something that is major for me. I’ll never stop that. So I see the future being lots of art and creativity both with music and acting.”

In addition, they are excited about their first stage performance on August 4. “We are a very high-energy, fun band. So if you are there you will definitely get your money’s worth of entertainment. Just a group of guys doing what we love to do. I think that’s a bit infectious.

On the digital transformation in the music and entertainment scene, Howard commented, “I think technology has especially changed the music industry. Marketing music has totally changed in the last 10 years.”

Howard continued, “I think like everyone my own age I use technology every day. I do, however, make a point of not letting technology distract me from what’s going on around me. Big pet peeve of mine. Missing out on moments because you’re on Instagram or Facebook really grinds my gears. You can’t forget to enjoy life in person rather than through your phone.”

For aspiring singer-songwriters, he said, “I think it’s always important to stay true to what art or creativity you really want to express. We each have a special gift or a finger print that’s unique to us. Stay true to that.”

He concluded with “a major thank you” to the fans for sticking with him, whether it’s music or acting. “It really means a lot to have everyone on the ride with me. The support is great,” he said.

“Burning Fire” is available on iTunes.
