Josh Thompson talks new album ‘Change: The Lost Record’ (Includes interview)

On the song selection process of his new CD, he said, “I am excited that it is out. I wrote most of the songs in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The process was showing a different side. It was more of a reflection of where I was at the time. I’m glad it is finally out there.”

Thompson listed “Daddy Had a Beer” as his personal favorite song on the album. Country star Justin Moore joins him for a duet on the song “Livin’ Like Hank.” “We’ve done that song a few times live, and it just goes over great. It has a lot of energy and I’m excited that he sang on it with me,” Thompson said.

His new album is available on iTunes.

As a songwriter, Thompson scored his first chart-topping country single, where he co-wrote “Any Ol’ Barstool” for country superstar Jason Aldean. “There is a big party coming for that one. That is my first No. 1 as a songwriter, so I’m extremely pumped,” he said.

Regarding his plans for the future, Thompson said, “We are going to be touring all summer, and we will be supporting this new record. Hopefully, we will get back in the studio to make some new music in the fall, and I will continue to write all the time.”
