Joe Nichols discusses new album ‘Never Gets Old’ (Includes interview)

He listed the title track “Never Gets Old,” “This Side of the River” and “We All Carry Something” as his three personal favorite songs on the new album. “‘We All Carry Something’ is a very good traditional-sounding record that is very powerful, with a big meaning to it. There are a lot of really country songs on this record that I really like,” he said.

In the upcoming album, Nichols offers his own take of “Diamonds Make Babies.”

On the song selection process for his new CD, he said, “We looked for a lot of different things. First of all, we just looked for good, powerful songs that are radio-friendly and ones that the album needed. In the end, we wanted fun with ‘Never Gets Old’ and ‘Diamonds Make Babies.’ As we went along, we narrowed it down by getting back to the basics: I’m a country singer and I started my career with traditional country music, and I wanted to get back to that passion. Nothing was too overthought or too radio-driven or chasing other’s people’s sounds.”

Nichols’ album Never Gets Old is available to pre-order on iTunes.

A Rogers, Arkansas native, Joe Nichols chatted with Digital Journal about his lead single “Never Gets Old.”
