Interview: Wade Martin talks new single ‘Done’ and music career (Includes interview)

Regarding his new single “Done” with Jadelle, Martin said, “I wanted to create something that sounded mainstream yet substantive. Jadelles’ voice is too rich to simply create yet another pop song so after many months of experimentation in the studio we came up with ‘Done’ striking what I believe to be that perfect balance.”

Throughout his career, he has been privileged to open for Guns N’ Roses. “Opening for bands I grew up with was always exciting to me however my memory on the details fails me. I did a lot of drinking (among other things) with these bands back then. I re-connected with Vince Neil a couple of years ago and he didn’t even remember me from the 90’s,” he said, with a laugh.

He has written for such artists as Britney Spears, Carrot Top and the Rolling Stones. “Some artists I’ve produced for as well and written and others I’ve simply engineered or mixed their records. I found ghost-producing pays extremely well in exchange for credit. Most of the celebrities I’ve worked with are great people, however, I find they have a tendency of surrounding themselves with people that make life working with them more challenging than it needs to be,” he said.

Martin has served as a guest judge on American Idol and The X Factor. “I did it for about five years before I decided to walk away due to the injustices I kept running into. People who should have been going through to the finals weren’t due to the fact I was usually sitting with a panel of judges that had no business judging singers,” he said.

The veteran producer has recording studios in both Phoenix and Las Vegas. “I built them both from the ground up and I consider them my babies. I know every square inch like the back of my hand and everything is exactly placed according to my working style. My studios are one hundred percent reserved for my own music creation and not available to the public,” he said.

Each day, he is motivated by his love for creating music. “I’ve been writing and playing since the age of eight so music has always been part of who I am,” he said. “I guess inspiration simply comes from the innate driving force of, this is what I do, what I am, music is me, this is my life and life to me. I feel most artists and creative people feel the same, it is simply a part of you.”

On his future plans, he said, “I look forward to being in a more influential position to be able to introduce more substantive artist like Jadelle to the business.”

He added, “I have four new singles which I will be releasing in the upcoming months, along with music videos, then of course tour of live performances and DJ sets to support the releases, and more production projects with artist clients.”
